My Everyday Style
My top | My similar shoes
Okay, so if you're like most people, you have a certain way that you want to look and you know your favorite clothes to get you there. It's great! But, imagine how that changes when you've got an energetic one-year-old running around dirtying up every mess as soon as you clean it? Not so easy to make time to focus on the more complex pieces of your wardrobe, is it? Exactly. So for that reason, my mom style has become a thing. It's practical and fashionable, but focused on comfort and ease before anything else.
My go-to options:
When it comes to my on-the-go look, I tend to choose the stretchiest pair of skinny jeans I can find – seriously, you guys, who out there wears non-stretchy jeans??– and a comfortable tunic. That's it. My favorites in different colors, prints, etc. But they all fit into that over-all description.
Why they're awesome:
So, you may be wondering why I choose these two kind of options so much. It's pretty simple really, it's the simple option. I have a lot going on (no, seriously, keep reading for more info) and I want to enjoy a style that is going to blend with that. Two items that look great together, are comfortable and both provide me with my stretchiness needs. All of that and it takes, like 2 seconds to pull an outfit together? Can I get an Amen!? Yes please! It's the easiest fashion choice out there for anyone who has got craziness at home and on the go, and the best part is that a tunic, when you create a style out of it, looks kinda dressy and fancy but you don't need to put any of work into it. Casual yet dressy. I’ll take it! Why not, right?
Why I need “simple”:
More on why simple is the way to go. Firstly, I'm a Mom to an active one-year old. I'm tired and stressed and spend all of my free time chasing that little ball of energy around the house. When I take my mom hat off, I split my time between two jobs that both keep me on my toes. My life, in a word, is “busy”. I do not have time or the mental effort to put together a totally on-point fancy outfit everyday. I want to be comfortable and fashionable at the same time. This frees me up to enjoy my downtime in the morning or evening.
The thing I've learned is that being a mom doesn't mean you need to wear the frumpy outfit or ugly sweats and a messy bun (although that is how I look half the time). It just means that you need to enjoy comfort and fashion in a simple way as much as possible. Which is exactly what I've done.
