When it came to decorating Hunter’s nursery, I wanted something simple. And simple is my middle name. My thought as that I wanted his room decor to take shape, grow as I learned more about Hunter and who he was going to be. So, I started with just the basics so that I could add things that matched his personality. That seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now that I’m a mom, I’ve learned that if it doesn’t get done early on, it probably won’t get done. Right? I’m too busy changing diapers, washing clothes, and entertaining toot bug. I finally understand why I should have gone full speed ahead with finishing out his room because there is pretty much NO TIME to do it after a baby arrives. Lesson learned. I get it now.

The good news is that I did have the basic pieces. The biggies. The things that I can build a room on. The crib, dresser, changing table, nightstand, and glider are all there. Whew! I added some quick wired shelves, and few cute word pictures and simple lamp and we were set for a while. And, until I get a huge chunk of time and money, it’s going to be good for now. It’s sweet, simple, and growable.

So, if you didn’t have time or money to create the most amazingly decorated nursery before your baby arrived, no problem. Keep it simple until you have that time and money. Whenever that might be. :)

The basics:

The crib: Walmart

The dresser/changing table: Target

The nightstand: Buy Buy Baby

The glider: Wonderful gift from an aunt, from Amazon.

The lamp: Target

The word art: baby shower gifts

The baby blanket: Made with love by my amazing aunt. One of the best kinds of nursery decor.

Things I might add in the next few months.

  1. Enlarged pictures of Hunter to hang on wall

2. A book shelf - like the one, below

3. A toy box - like the one, below
